Renovación de la Escuela en Llano Grande

Transformation of a critically damaged school into a safe and dignified learning environment in Llano Grande.

A New Beginning for Education in Llano Grande

A New Beginning for Education in Llano Grande

This project took place in the community of Llano Grande in Salamá, Baja Verapaz, where children had been studying in a school building that was in very poor condition and close to collapsing. The classrooms were fragile, the bathrooms had no doors, and many of the desks were broken. Despite these difficult circumstances, the children continued coming to school every day with the hope of learning and building a better future.

Through the support and commitment of the foundation, this reality was transformed. The school now has new walls, a strong new roof, new desks for the students, and renovated bathrooms that provide privacy and dignity. What was once an unsafe space has become a place where children can learn, grow, and feel protected.

Today, the students can study without fear that the roof might collapse. They are protected from the sun and the rain, and they now have a safe and welcoming environment where their education can flourish. This project is more than construction—it is an act of care and solidarity with the children and families of the community.

By improving the school, this project has brought renewed hope and opportunity to the entire community. It provides children with a safe place to learn, dream, and move forward toward a brighter future.
